B.E. Taylor, a mainstay on the Western Pennsylvania music scene and a national recording artist, died Sunday at age 65 from complications from an inoperable brain tumor, according to a news release from his family.
Taylor grew up in Aliquippa and made his home in Wheeling, W.Va.
In the 1980s, the B.E. Taylor Group filled dance clubs, had videos on MTV and achieved a Billboard regional number one hit with “Vitamin L.”
But in Western Pennsylvania, he'll be most remembered for his annual Christmas shows and recordings. He released “B.E. Taylor Christmas” in 1994. He was working on “B.E. Taylor Christmas 4” and an upcoming tour just before his death.
He was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in March 2007, but continued to record and perform, including eight Christmas tours.
Taylor is survived by his wife of 34 years, Veronica, children B.C., Tahnee and Lucky; brothers David and Danny (Lori), parent-in-laws Mike and Mary Ann DeBlasis; sister-in-law Gina DeBlasis; brothers-in-law Rocky (Elaine) and Mike DeBlasis; nieces and nephews David, Daniel, Dustin, Jordan, Sydney, Bailey.
